Your advice to Mr. Bloom is spot on. Having worked for Denso, the top auto parts supplier, for 4 years from 1999 to 2002, I learned early on that the need to reinforce the supplier base and ensure they position themselves for long-term capabilities as well as financial survival is absolutely critical.

As you mention, the targeting and management of stimulus funds in the auto industry has lacked an understanding of automotive supply chain dynamics and a holistic perspective.

It will be interesting to see how GM and Chrysler evolve this year under such narrow-sighted leadership and direction.
