In today’s postings I would like to share with you a couple of blog posts that I feel are worth a read.  This first entry relates to increased levels of risk in logistics and transportation networks.

Over on Ariba’s Sourcing Innovation blog, Rachael Rutkoski, a category manager for transportation and logistics for Ariba penned an insightful post, Transportation Sector Woes Pose Supply Chain Risks  provides evidence of why it’s so critically important for risk management professionals to stay on top of trends across the U.S. transportation industry.  I myself have provided many commentaries related to risk within this blog, and I find that I sometimes can’t keep up with many of the evolving threats caused by this unprecedented downturn in our global economy.

Rachael’s message is that headcount and capacity cutbacks are on the rise, and increasingly, carriers and facilities may well be operating with low employee morale or constrained capacity.  Rachel’s advice is to have a contingency plan in-place.  Very timely advice and worth your read.
