During these last few weeks, this author has been posting commentaries as well as speaking on the current challenges facing Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) teams.  The current challenges manifesting more accelerated clock speed of business across multiple industry setting coupled with the growing complexity, variability and risk across global supply chains often manifest themselves in S&OP decision-support challenges. Many recent surveys point to certain frustrations concerning S&OP momentum, and yet the process itself can greatly benefit from today’s advancing technology in more predictive analytics, decision support and group collaboration.

We wanted to therefore call Supply Chain Matters reader attention to an upcoming conference solely dedicated to S&OP thought leadership.  The annual S&OP Innovation Summit is being held at the SOP2-BostonSeaport World Trade Center in Boston on September 12-13.

This year’s summit includes a wide variety of speakers and topics.  It includes senior supply chain executives from Bauer, Kraft Foods and Perrigo, along with S&OP process representatives from Abbot Laboratories, Energizer, Haliburton, Novartis and Solo Cup, among other presenters. Speaker topics encompass a wide variety of S&OP challenges with viewpoints among various industry settings. This regional summit is unique in that the audience is capped to allow for lots of opportunities for networking and information sharing. The Seaport Hotel district offers a magnificent venue overlooking Boston Harbor and its many venues.  Early September is also a great time to be in Boston, our home city, with many sports and other attractions occurring across the city. Among past attendees, 92 percent indicated they would recommend the event to a colleague.

Supply Chain Matters has agreed to be one of the designated media sponsors of this event, and yours truly will be an attending, providing social media updates and post-event commentary on the messages shared and takeaways brought forward by speakers and attendees. I look forward to meeting and speaking with you as well.
